Ms Lebohang Liepollo PHEKO
Ms. Lebohang Liepollo Pheko is a senior research fellow and political economist at a think tank called Trade Collective.
The ongoing thread of her work has been to build social movements & organisations across academia, popular movements both locally and internationally.
Nearly all of her work is located with an intersectional frame of race, class and gender.
Her current areas of specialisation include international trade and economics, political economy, feminist economics in the context of covid-19, migration,
and globalisation in the era of bio politics, citizenship and identity in the context of vaccine imperialism. Over the past two years,
Pheko has contributed to framing policy alternatives that centre women in post COVID economic recovery, through various platforms including a SAWID study on Vulnerability and Indigence Assessment in South Africa: A Civil Society Emergency Response to COVID-19.
She is a fellow of the African Futures Lab, a Lancet Commissioner on Reparation and member of the Well Being Economy Alliance.
